documentation index

A single file, often called llms.txt, that lists all the pages in a product's documentation so that an AI tool or chatbot can quickly find and read the relevant pages. It exists because developers increasingly use AI assistants to answer questions about a tool, and a plain index is easier for a model to work through than a full website. Most people using AI tools day to day will never open one directly, but it's part of why AI coding assistants can often answer questions about a product's docs accurately.
